1. Current website transactions
Respectfully Remote has not opened public paid services. This informational website does not accept project payments, subscriptions or paid listing renewals. There are currently no website purchases to cancel or refund.
2. Future project cancellations
Clients will be able to withdraw an unfilled listing without a marketplace cancellation penalty. After a freelancer is hired, cancellation requests will need to account for the agreed project terms, work performed, approved work, amounts paid and applicable legal rights. A cancellation request alone does not automatically cancel a contract or guarantee a refund.
3. Completed work and client review
The proposed standard client review period is five business days after completed work is submitted, unless expressly agreed project terms provide another period. Clients should approve the work or identify specific deficiencies. A lack of response would trigger reminders and human review, not automatic payment, acceptance or payout.
4. Full and partial refunds
Future refund eligibility will be determined by the applicable accepted contract and refund terms, the work actually delivered, any approved amounts, documented non-delivery or deficiencies, and applicable law. Partial delivery and approved hourly work require fair consideration. Neither party is automatically entitled to disputed funds.
The marketplace's planned fees are 5% for clients and 7% for freelancers. Any future refund policy must clearly address the work amount, marketplace fees, applicable taxes and nonrefundable payment-provider costs before paid services open.
5. Preventing abuse
Genuine cancellations remain permitted. Participants must not misuse cancellation or refund requests to arrange private payment for the same marketplace-originated work solely to evade applicable fees. Suspected misconduct requires documented human review, not automatic assumptions or penalties.
6. Payment disputes and payout limitations
Refunds, chargebacks and freelancer transfers are separate financial operations. A refund does not automatically reverse a transfer, and a transfer does not establish that money has reached a bank account. Final payment arrangements, dispute procedures, responsibility for losses and any payout restrictions will be disclosed before public paid services open.
