Frequently asked questions
Clear answers. Fair opportunities.
Understand the marketplace and what is available today.
What is Respectfully Remote?
A freelance marketplace being prepared for direct clients commissioning real project work from independent professionals and disclosed service teams. It serves diverse professions, including digital and non-digital services.
Can I register, apply or pay now?
We’re preparing to launch. Registration, project applications, hiring and payments have not opened. A launch date has not been announced.
Who can use the marketplace when it opens?
Disclosed direct clients, individual freelancers and genuine service teams or agencies that deliver actual project work. Recruiters, staffing agencies, headhunters, candidate brokers, candidate resale, résumé harvesting and undisclosed third-party client posts are prohibited.
How will project delivery work?
Clients submit projects for review. Freelancers apply with their approach and work evidence. Both parties agree terms and delivery disclosures before work starts. Hourly contracts use client-set weekly caps and manual time entries; fixed-price work is also supported. Clients review delivered work or time before billing. There is no surveillance tracking.
Is joining and applying free?
Yes, when registration opens. Registration, browsing, unlimited applications, assessments, badges and retakes are free. There are no Connects, paid application credits, paid boosts or purchased ranking.
What are the fees?
The planned fee on paid project work is 5% for clients and 7% for freelancers. For USD 100.00 of work, the client total is USD 105.00 and the freelancer receives USD 93.00 before any applicable tax. Existing signed agreements keep their agreed fee rates.
How much will posting a project cost?
Posting and the first 30 days of visibility are free. An optional additional 30 days is planned at USD 4.99, requested explicitly each time with no automatic renewal or ranking advantage. Paid renewals are not available yet.
Which countries are supported?
Country availability is checked separately for clients and freelancers. Only verified supported countries may register and access the marketplace. All other countries are unavailable. The public informational website remains accessible; no countries are currently enabled.
How are teams and subcontractors handled?
Delivery teams and subcontractors must be disclosed. The owning direct client must approve the current subcontracting disclosure before work starts. A change invalidates prior approval. Service agencies that deliver work are welcome; staffing agencies are prohibited.
How are concerns reviewed?
Direct-client verification, listing attestations, suspicious-listing flags, freelancer reports and audit history support human administrator review. Keywords and AI signals never automatically ban accounts. Eligible adverse decisions have independent human appeals.
What about cancellations and refunds?
There are no public transactions or subscriptions to cancel on this website. The proposed refund and cancellation policy is a draft awaiting owner and legal review. It must be finalized before paid services launch.
